Georgia Hardinge Sample Sale

Yesterday I went to Georgia Hardinge‘s first sample sale in Hackney. This was probably the best sample sale I’ve ever been to in terms of the atmosphere; usually you have to shop with a bunch of people glaring at you and the designer either hovers in the background judging you or simply is not present. Georgia, on the other hand, greeted everyone who came in and cheerfully showed them all her wonderful pieces. (Also, there were cupcakes!!!)

Here is what I got;

I’m sort of dying over this jacket but it wasn’t at the sale! Check out the rest of her collections on her website.

Versace for H&M Men’s

I’m so excited about the Versace x H&M collaboration, the men’s looks are amazing! I’m really hoping the pink suit will come in a size that’ll fit me…it reminds me of Joan Jett in the best of possible ways.While I’m dreaming, I would also like these Underground winklepickers to complete the look (available here).

House of Holland SS12

House of Holland this season was all daring print combinations and beautiful use of sheers. I love the macro-leopard (or cow?) print, ombres, and those amazing pastel colour-blocked sheer collared shirts. And what a brilliant way to use python print! The bleached denim looks like clouds in a very blue sky, and I love his clever take on tartan. I’m hoping to get my hands on those faux snake suspenders.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac SS12

I was very surprised by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac this season….although there were some of his trademark over-the-top cartoony pieces, such as the Mickey Mouse dress and the grid coat, this collection seemed a lot more somber than he is known for. I was a bit disappointed that his collection was less fun and zany than usual, but I think he does serious well; that little star and cloud dress with the sheer is beautiful, as were all of his wonderful coats and jackets and armour-inspired pieces. I’m just really hoping that this isn’t a permanent change of focus for him, because he is one of the rare designers who infuses a genuine sense of fun and playfulness in his work.

Louise Gray SS12

I loved the silhouettes at Louise Gray this season, there is something sort of slouchy-sexy about her separates, and all those lovely dresses with the sleeve seams falling off the shoulders like they do when a girl borrows from her boyfriend’s  closet. The fairly clean silhouettes allowed the crimped hair, adorable shoes, crazy colour combinations and abundance of detailed embroidery to shine without being overwhelming. I would happily wear that colour-blocked jacket thing in look 4 below, as well as any of the dresses and all of look 8;

Meadham Kirchhoff SS12

Meadham and Kirchhoff, always a highlight of LFW, delivered clown chic at its best for their Spring 2012 show in an explosion of pastel candy fluff coats, sequined and fringed hotpants, lacy trim, tartan and teddy bear appliqués. WINNING COMBINATION, I daresay. I really wish I’d seen this show in person, it looked like a massive party with balloons, streamers and ballerinas at the end.

Versace for H&M

Darn. Looks like I’m going to have to camp out in front of H&M the night before this collection launches…I was hoping to skip the madness this time around but I need to get my hands on that amazing leopard/multi print jacket! Will you be skipping a night of sleep to shop the collaboration?

Slime is the New Black: Gerlan Jeans SS12

Gerlan Jean‘s SS12 collection “Mall Witch” is a fabulously grungy, slimy mix of men and women’s seperates, in sheers, metallics, knits and green slime print. I must get my hands on that toxic sludge necklace, pretty much all the skirts and, (of course), the AMAZING slime shoes and “fuck off” glasses. Continue reading

Betsey Johnson SS12

I feel like Betsey Johnson gets a lot of criticism for being “tacky”, over the top and intentionally oblivious to trends, but that is exactly what I love about her designs. This year her collection was a bizarre combination of old fashioned nightgowns, french maids, punk rock flare and trashy track looks, a good percentage of which I would happily wear (in public, too!). I love the chartreuse and fuchsia look, I need to immediately incorporate more of these colours into my wardrobe, and as far as I’m concerned, bone print never gets old. The same goes for sheer+stripes+ruffles (see third look).

I’m not entirely comfortable with the fact that some of the fabrics look like they were snatched off McQueen‘s cutting room floor, but I would still wear that adorable romper (above).

Christopher F***ing Kane

My friends and I have started, (rather obnoxiously I might add), to refer to legendary designer Christopher Kane as “Christopher Fucking Kane”, due to his consistently drool-worthy collections that seem to get more epic every season.  Much like Samuel Muthafucking Jackson. I’m still emotionally recovering from his last sample sale, which is why I haven’t posted about it yet (him being Christopher Kane and not SMJ).

Kane’s Resort 2012 collection is all rainbows and metallics, amazing little cuffs and collars and crazy jelly accessories. And that jacket! The teal one! And the silver pleating! Maybe I should have just hid somewhere in that warehouse for the last sample sale and waited around until the next one, scratching the days off on the walls, driven by fantasies of a Kane-filled wardrobe.

Natacha Talay SS 2011

I LOVE the hair and makeup and styling of Natacha Talay’s SS11 lookbook…modern minimalist mime geisha? Also wouldn’t mind the outfit with the bow tie…

Baby Daniel Palillo

Daniel Palillo has come out with the most ADORABLE kidswear, and I’m incredibly bitter about it because that means it won’t come in my size :( I especially love the face skirt in #3 and the frilly thing in #9.

Ashish AW11

Ashish AW11 was basically what my ideal wardrobe would look like; Shredded jumpers, tartan, creeper shoes, slogan jackets, bone shirts, cobweb tights, harem trousers, slouchy shorts, oversized men’s shirts, sweater vests, and sequined shift dresses.

More photos after the jump;

Rag & Bone

Loving the plaid and beautiful blues at Rag & Bone AW11. The jacket from look five is great, it reminds me of the Opening Ceremony x Tron Legacy collection.

Afternoon of a Faun

I love Toga‘s concept for SS11; leopard-on-leopard, little collars, colourful belts and lots of sheer. Their collection “Afternoon of a Faun” has definitely got me in the mood for Spring (err, Spring shopping more than anything).

Yohji Yamamoto Fall 2011 Menswear

When I’m old, I want to be a crazy lady with faded tattoos and a purple beehive, and be married to an old man with this wardrobe (while I’m dreaming, can my husband be Noel Fielding?). In the meantime, I need the jumpers from looks three, four and nine as soon as physically possible.
