My friend Una got me the “Burning in Water” palette from the Wong Kar Wai x Shu Uemura collaboration…a surprise gift enjoyed over delicious Pho soup :) It’s so pretty I’m too scared to use it! Well, almost too scared, heh heh heh…

Mask
I mentioned the Wong Kar Wai x Shu Uemura collaboration before (here). Here is the gorgeous accompanying film directed by the man himself. Those eyelashes! Those colours! The glitter!
“Wong Kar Wai is a ‘master of colors’, just like Mr. Shu Uemura.
Possessing a unique perspective on femininity, he has specialized in capturing the mystique of women. In collaboration with Wong Kar Wai, Shu Uemura introduces a holiday collection rich in emotions and atmosphere, with beautiful package decoration inspired by his special short film for Shu Uemura, “Mask”. With his distinctive appreciation of femininity and his signature style that is both nostalgic and hip, this collection emphasizes timeless elegance and poetic tones, and takes the Shu Uemura look to a new dimension”.

Wong Kar Wai x Shu Uemura
I stared at this blankly for a whole minute before googling Wong Kar Wai to see if there’s more than one filmmaker with that name. But no, it is indeed THE Wong Kar Wai, the revered Hong Kong filmmaker responsible for In the Mood for Love and other fashion-heavy masterpieces, who has teamed up with Shu Uemura for a makeup collaboration.

I’m not sure how I feel about this except that it makes it even more clear that fashion’s love affair with film is only going to intensify.
Thoughts? Will you be buying?

Model Wheel
I’m basing this opinion solely on the look of the set, (which includes a giant hamster wheel for models and a cage), but I can already tell that the Versace x H&M tv commercial is going to be amazing. Watch the behind the scenes below;

Versace for H&M Men’s
I’m so excited about the Versace x H&M collaboration, the men’s looks are amazing! I’m really hoping the pink suit will come in a size that’ll fit me…it reminds me of Joan Jett in the best of possible ways.
While I’m dreaming, I would also like these Underground winklepickers to complete the look (available here).

Lazy Oaf x Underground
Um, how have I not heard about this until now? Lazy Oaf and Underground have collaborated to make these adorable creeper shoes, which I absolutely must own. They are £88, limited edition, and WILL BE on my feet by the end of the week.
Crossing my fingers and toes that they haven’t sold out.

Tron Legacy x Opening Ceremony
Opening Ceremony is doing a fashion collaboration for Disney’s “Tron Legacy”? Who gets to pick these things?
Although the blue moto jacket is pretty rad, and I know heaps of people would wear the bodice dress, (both pictured below), I don’t really understand the logic behind this collaboration. I feel like fans of this collection probably haven’t seen “Tron” or the remake, and fans of the movies probably aren’t going to be interested in $300 yellow shirts. Maybe I’m wrong, but to me, the whole thing sounds like a really hilarious Project Runway challenge.
That being said, even though I don’t really understand the point of the collection, I appreciate it as another overlap between fashion and film. Also, I can TOTALLY see Victoria Beckham wearing that blue tulip dress (top right of the newsletter), anyone with me? Bets are on for how soon she’s photographed wearing it. View the full collection here at Opening Ceremony.
What do you think? Pointless? Awesome? A little bit of both?

H&M x Lanvin
I cannot wait!!! Although this collection is probably going to sell-out even faster than Rodarte for Target…

Time for Change
H&M continues to push their brand image in a more “edgy” direction with this viral campaign for Matthew Williamson for H&M. This video definitely isn’t my aesthetic and its quite frankly a bit creepy, but I’m still really excited to see the collection. Thoughts?
