Of Puddles & Stilhettos
Missing London, missing the rain, and loving this NylonTV video about being fashionably wet.
I spy Prada, See by Chloé, and Jimmy Choo…anyone spy anything I missed?

Not Just for Pansies
I spontaneously decided to do my Spring Fashion Trend post in the form of an online fashion zine. Please allow me to present to you the very first issue of Drooling Isn’t Print Magazine. Full issue after the jump.

May & Confused
I’m really excited about the next issue of Dazed & Confused. Not only does it feature SWINTON, (as the Fug Girls refer to Tilda Swinton), it also feature this amazing editorial inspired by hippies and squatters. Shot by Ben Toms, the feature takes place in a “mystical English country garden” and looks new and unpretensious in black and white.

Bazaar Props
I read Harper’s Bazaar on the plane to London and it gets massive props for two particularly awesome spreads this month (although I found the Kate Moss cover story rather boring), entitled “The Mode of Almodovar” and “Designer Double Take”.
“The Mode of Almodovar” spread “recasts the beloved Spanish director’s most memorable cinematic scenes with some of fashions most famous faces”. I was of course thrilled because its right up my alley with a fashion meets film theme, and Almodovar is one of my favorite film directors. The spread stars Sonia Rykiel in Women on the Verge, Angela Missoni in Volver and others, including Almodovar himself, all photographed by Jason Schmidt.
The concept of “Designer Double Take” is dressing up model Iris Strubegger as a bunch of famous designers, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. My favorite is Vivienne Westwood, although of course Donatella and Karl are spot on as well.

Augmented Reality
I really need to get the new Dazed as soon as I get back to London…amazing!!!!
There are pages encoded with a symbol that allows you to play fashion films on their website…how cool is that? I’ll do a post about it as soon as I get a hold of the issue when I get home…so excited!!!

Retail Hat
Today was a snowy, productive day spent hunting down look books for Spring/Summer 2010. Look at this wealth of fashion knowledge!
Dazed & Stupid
I would have to say Dazed & Confused is my favorite fashion magazine because they do some really incredible interviews with filmmakers as well as figures in fashion, and they always deliver with the fashion editorials. Also, they aren’t afraid of writing intelligently; a lot of glossies seem to think that its readers are allergic to words and just want to see pretty pictures of expensive clothes.
I just bought the february issue and I love that they featured the crazy Viktor & Rolf mesh creations, (I’d been dying to get a better look at the red gown with the cut out holes) as well as a piece about “emporer of anime” Hayao Miyazaki, who I love.
It also came with a free BE STUPID shirt from the new Diesel campaign…I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Diesel or their marketing technique of having people strive to “Be stupid: Smart may have the brains, but stupid has the balls”. I guess its – er -selling a lifestyle?

Pigeons & Peacocks
I was really impressed with Pigeons & Peacocks magazine, which is published by University of the Arts London-London College of Fashion. It’s a beautifully put together magazine with personality, and they have a blog which I suggest you check out. Click click click;

Rainbow Army
I can’t believe military chic is coming back…I was so over camo but its kind of refreshing seeing it with so much colour. Check out this amazing spread on Dazed Digital.

Armadillidiidae
I’m in Nancy, (north of Paris), jetlagged and therefore awake way too early, passing the time goofing off on my mom’s laptop. We are staying at my uncle’s house…he has pet roly-polies in the compost. He claims they don’t like oranges.
Roly-Poly= “a colloquial name for isopod crustaceans of the family Armadillidiidae”.
Similar to armadillos and roly-polies, I have the ability to make myself tiny and invisible, a skill that comes in handy for discrete people-watching.
Sneaky elevator photos in the airport…roly-poly mode.
I couldn’t resist buying Dazed & Confused for the plane ride…Lily Cole on the cover and an article on “the future of fashion and film” made this issue irresistible. I also wanted to get Nylon, but there wasn’t a single place that sold them in the SFO international terminal.
Enjoyed a cappucino and a fraise tagada. People don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here, since its an American holiday, but we are going to have a make-up Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, a la francaise.
Happy Black Friday :)

It’s On, Nylon

From Nylon Magazine, September 2009
Soo remember that post I made on how badass Mrs. Frizzle is a while back? Yes? Well, Nylon totally stole my awesomely obscure fashion reference!!! At least they put her next to those cute Melissa/Vivienne Westwood shoes…I approve.
