Freak

I am beyond excited about Illamasqua‘s first fragrance, “Freak” which launches at the end of the month. Frankly I don’t really care what it smells like, I just love the name, campaign, and of course, the adorable little silver snail on the bottle.

Are you a freak?

Unleash Your Sweet Tooth

I love this cute perfume advert for Prada “Candy” by Léa Seydoux…I am rarely tempted to try out new fragrances but now I’m curious about this one. Watch below;

Fall Essentials

Today was a beautiful foggy day in London, check out my view! I’ve always really loved the fog, and I’ve been spoiled in terms of gray weather; London, Paris, Monterey, San Francisco…all gray, foggy cities.

Anyway, now that I am in a thoroughly Autumnal mood, I thought I’d post my fall essentials list.

  • Leopard print crop jacket from Topshop. As far as I’m concerned, leopard print is ALWAYS an essential. I’ve been wearing this jacket way too often.
  • Comme des Garcon‘s “Wonderwood“. I already rambled on about it here and here but I think its the perfect fall fragrance…very warm and not flowery at all.
  • Nars matte red lipstick…I’m really liking red lips right now, even though I didn’t used to be a lipstick person. Now I wear it almost every day.
  • Doc Marten Divas. I don’t actually own these, but I love them and I think they would fit in nicely with my fall wardrobe (HA! Excuses).
  • Bandanas/Head scarves. My hair is in that awkward growing out period. Actually its been in that awkward stage for over a year now but the best way to keep me from hacking it all off in frustration is to cover it with a scarf.
  • Peter-Pan collars. I’m not sure why but I love these little collars on everything lately…this one is Topshop but its funner to find vintage dresses with this feature.

Rainy Days Yellow Bags

Being back in London means rainy days in red buses, easier access to Dazed and Confused, and of course, SELFRIDGES! People go there just to see the beautiful window displays and carry around those iconic yellow shopping bags. I went today (in the rain) to pick up the Comme des Garcons perfume I’ve been obsessing over; “Wonderwood”.

This is the first perfume that I’ve ever actually wanted to wear…I think I love it because it smells warm and cozy, and there’s nothing flowery about it, just woody, spicy, yuminess.

What’s your fragrance?

What a Hunk

My perfume teacher who I blogged about here sent me a link to the most incredible promotional film by the Quay brothers for the new Comme Des Garçons perfume, “Wonderwood”. I love what Denyse said about the film, “…which I consider to be one of the best films about perfume ever, though there’s no girl in a ballgown, no chiselled hunk (well, there is, but it’s a hunk of wood) and not a drop or bottle shown…”. Sums it up quite well :) Read her review here.

Drooling Isn’t Perfume

This past weekend was the Fragrance in Fashion perfume intensive class at the London College of Fashion, taught by the fabulous Denyse Beaulieu of the blog Grain de Musc. I’ll be honest, I went in to the class with a fairly skeptical view on perfume; I always thought of it as an unnecessary and vain commodity tied in with royalty and celebrity culture. I think my negativity also may have come from my dad’s really sudden and aggressive allergic reaction to anything chemical when I was a kid; I grew up in a house devoid of anything flowery.
